I have noticed recently that our products have been mentioned a few times in this subreddit. So to give people a chance to try out our stuff, I have some free iViewer 4 Pro and iViewer Lite (iOS only) promo codes to give away. Basically iViewer allows you to create your own graphical user interface (GUI) on an Apple or Android device.

You program this GUI to control devices via ethernet. It uses open protocols, so you can control pretty much anything - even another control system. If you are interested in trying our iViewer, leave a comment letting me know how you would use it, and I will choose a few people to give free licenses too. I'm also happy to answer any questions you might have regarding any of our products. I checked with the mods before posting this to make sure it was ok, they are happy for me to do this. At a quick website glance after a couple glasses of wine, I'm left entirely unclear about whether a technical non-programmer can actually use your product.

Gui Command Prompt

I get that I can design a UI-but it's unclear how that UI communicates with an actual piece of hardware to, you know, do something. What does it work with? What does it work with most easily?

Does it talk to the various controllers out there, like Smarthings, Vera, Zwave sticks? I have no idea. Your screen shots are of it running on Windows. Is there a Mac version? What do YOU use your product to do?

What problem do you think it fixes? It can certainly be used by someone who doesnt know programming. You do need to have some technical know how as you need to be able to tell iViewer what Commands etc to send to your devices to control them and receive feedback. Granted, most of our customers are professional integrators at the moment, but we are in the process of making it more friendly to less technical people, there will be some announcements on this in the coming months.

Take a look at this guide - there is a video and a text version. It goes over the basics of how to program iViewer.

It works with anything that can be controlled via ethernet - it simply sends the commands you tell it to to the system to tell it to send to. As long as you have the protocol information for what you want to control, it can control it. GuiDesigner (the program used to create the GUI) runs only on Windows. There is no Mac version at the moment, but many of our customers do run it on Mac using a windows virtual machine or similar. IViewer is not new, its been around since 2008 and we have many customers from around the world. It is used in everything, from high end residential, to board rooms, to multi million dollar mega yachts.

It provides an extremely powerful control system that runs directly from your mobile device. Many people actually use dedicated iPads to control their system, instead of expensive proprietary touch panels. Many of our customers also use it to control their Crestron, AMX and Control 4 systems - as it gives much more powerful front end control to their systems.

Just expanding on a few points. Wemo - is a certainty, we have one in the office we use for testing and iViewer can be programmed to detect it and control it. Regarding Smart Things, this is from their website: IP-Connected Devices - Though this is not yet available, we are working to support IP-connected (typically WiFi) devices.

This will also include support for various industry standards within the IP umbrella such as UPnP and REST. With regards to making it more DIY friendly, we are in the process of creating a modular system.

Where you will be able to download a module for your product range - and simply and easily drag and drop commands for 2 way communication with your device. You can see a short demo it here:. Hi Norman, I find designing CF interfaces works best after a few glasses of wine.brings out the creative side in me! As a user of CF iViewer for about a year now, i'd say if it has a learning curve, but it is very much within the reach of non coders. If it has an ip address, CF can control it! (small poetic license there).

It can send and handle http, tcp and other ip protocol request responses with ease eg. I use it to get weather info. Via a php website script or to send commands to my TiVo over IP.or IR commands to GlobalCache iTach devices.jsonrpc for xbmc, view my security cameras, I even use it to control my arduino relay boards and display real time energy usage from my openenergymonitor boards sent to the iPads via udp broadcast messages. In my opinion, do not think of CF in a traditional central controller role, think of it as solving the problem of a smart GUI frontend for your home devices and control systems on android and iPad/iPhone.very smart actually as it hides all the complexity through a drag and drop gui designer but also provides the option of getting your hands as dirty as you want with javascript via the API. This is oversimplifying the power of CF iViewer, but you get the idea? The are plenty of example gui's on the github and videos on YouTube.incl.

Some excellent xbmc integrated front ends.as well as some of my videos:) As with all powerful applications, it can take a few hours to get your head in the right space.but once it clicks, you will really appreciate the amazing power of the product. There is literally nothing like it out there.
