Algoriddim has released vjay their realtime video mixing app for iPad. We previewed the app earlier this week. Similar to how djay works, vjay allows you to mix/fade between two video clips and apply real time effects to the output. Due to the heavy processing required to decode and mix two video streams, the app only works on the iPad 2 or the new iPad. Video clips can be full music videos, such as those downloaded from the iTunes store, or they can be your own personal video clips.

Audio can either be the original video audio or intermingled with songs your own music library. Both video and audio tracks can be swapped out independently at any time. A new video shows off some of the features:The focus of the app is on these real time performances and mixes which can be saved and shared.

Vjay is available for a limited time price of $9.99 and requires an iPad 2 or the new iPad. Direct Link. Cydiablog points to a new hands on video with the same 'iPhone 5' parts that have been circulating. The new video was posted by part supply company eTradeSupply. The new video is not especially more revealing, but does show the backplate in a number of different angles. The narrator also compares it directly to the iPhone 4, showing the relative size. Other features noted:- Smaller dock port- Bottom headphone jack- SIM card slot smaller- iPhone 5 is thinner than iPhone 4S (though no screen on the iPhone.

A few times a year, MacRumors partners with MacUpdate to promote their Mac application bundle deal. The new models come in three configurations: two standard versions and a third with OS X Server.

We had long been tracking the possible Intel chips that could find their way into the new Mac Pros. It wasn't until March, 2012 that Intel had released new Xeon E5 chips that Apple could use to upgrade their long-stagnant professional tower.

The Mac Pro was last updated almost two years ago in July 2010. Apple had been said to be questioning the future of the Mac Pro line, given diminishing market appeal for the processional tower. Apple will be holding the Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) next week and is rumored to be making other Mac hardware introductions.

Earlier today, a Chinese forum post on Weiphone claimed to have the specs for the new 13' MacBook Pro revision. Disappointingly, the changes were minor with no evidence of a new design or the use of any high resolution Retina display. The original poster has since edited his post with additional claims for the 15' MacBook Pro update. The specs listed include:New Macbook Pro 15 inch: i7 2820 2.3GHZ/2x2GB/500GB i7 2860 2.5GHZ/2x4GB/750GBCustom 2.7GHZ/2x4GB/1TBCard is NV GT650M 1GWhat's questionable about these specs is that the processors listed are previous generation Intel processors and not the new Ivy Bridge ones that we have been expecting. While representing a slight upgrade to the existing 15' MacBook Pro models, it's hard to believe that Apple would use last year's processors in their upgrade. A photo posted to Chinese forum Weiphone claims to reveal the specs for an upcoming 13.3' MacBook Pro revision from Apple. The specs show only minor improvements to the 13.3' MacBook Pro model with the addition of a 2.5GHz Ivy Bridge processor along with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU.

The image also reveals the addition of Bluetooth 4.0 and the faster USB 3.0 standard to the Mac laptop line.Other specs, however, remain the same as the current generation 13' MacBook Pro. Notably, the screen resolution remains the same at 1280x800 rather than incorporating a high resolution 'Retina Display'. RAM, Hard Drive and SuperDrive specs also remain the same, suggesting that there also hasn't been a dramatic space-saving thinning of the design. The authenticity of the image is impossible to verify. The claim by the original forum poster is that the image came from a 'friend inside Apple'.

Apple is expected to launch new products at the Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) next week. Revised MacBook Pros using the Ivy Bridge processors have been expected. Rumors, however, have suggested that we may be seeing more dramatic upgrades to at least some of the models. Update: Additional Sketchy 15' MacBook Pro Specs from same forum. In November 2010, Mac and iOS developers Algoriddim first previewed their djay app for iPad. The beautifully designed app pushed some boundaries of the iPad by taking advantage of new iOS 4.2-specific audio features that allowed them to perform realtime mixing effects and audio analysis. That app has since received a number of positive reviews and won an Apple Design Award in 2011.Later this week, Algoriddim is launching a new app called vjay which again offers some impressive real-time mixing and effects, but now applied to video.

Algoriddim has provided MacRumors with this exclusive preview of the app: Similar to how djay works, vjay allows you to mix/fade between two video clips and apply real time effects to the output. Both video and audio tracks can be swapped out independently at any time.Regardless of whether or not you have any actual djing skills, vjay is surprisingly fun to play with once you seed it with your own favorite music videos. Just mixing songs back and forth while playing around with effects is strangely enjoyable. Left: Transitioning from one to another.

Matrox has announced a new Thunderbolt docking station for MacBooks and Ultrabooks. From a single Thunderbolt connection, users can add multiple peripherals including a large DVI or HDMI® display, a full-size keyboard, and a mouse. A gigabit Ethernet port provides connectivity to a wired corporate network, enabling data transfers 18 times faster than Wi-Fi™.

One SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, a microphone input, and a speaker/headphone output are also provided. With its solid aluminum construction, yet sleek design, Matrox DS1 is ideal for office, dorm, or home use.

At a proposed price of $249, the Matrox DS-1 comes in cheaper than Belkin's $299 solution that is due this fall. Matrox's unit lacks a couple of ports (additional Thunderbolt, and Firewire) that are found on Belkin's dock. The DS-1 comes with DVI, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0, (2) USB 2.0, Audio Output, Audio Input, and Power connectors:The Matrox does carry a high speed USB 3.0 port that is absent on Belkin's unit. The addition of that port may make the dock more appealing to PC/Ultrabook customers. It's not clear, however, from Matrox's site if the USB 3.0 port is functional on a Mac. (.Update) In the past, USB 3.0 support on the Mac has required the installation of 3rd party drivers. These drivers are generally provided by the hardware manufacturer.

Apple has been rumored to be including USB 3.0 support in their next generation MacBook Pros which are due this summer. If that does come to pass, the USB 3.0 port on Matrox's. Fantastical, an OS X natural language calendar assistant, has been updated to version 1.3 today. The new version includes support for iCal and iOS reminders. MacStories describes the new feature:Fantastical can create, edit, and delete reminders with natural language recognition. In testing the app, I told Fantastical to “remind me to take out the trash”, and the app intelligently parsed the command as just “take out the trash”, interpreting the initial portion of the sentence as a reminder input. The utility can then sync reminders across iCloud and iOS devices. Fantastical is available as a free trial download from the developer's site, or directly from the Mac App Store for $19.99.

At this year's All Things D conference, Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher interviewed Apple CEO Tim Cook about a range of topics. We offer a transcript of the entire interview. During the talk, Cook provided hints at two upcoming features for Apple customers. The first has to do with the possibility of Facebook integration into iOS. Apple and Facebook are believed to have previously been in tough negotiations about Facebook integration into Apple's products.

As a result, tight Facebook integration has been absent in iOS while Twitter has seen service-level support. When asked about Apple's relationship with Facebook, Cook suggests that there will be news in the near future:For us, we want to provide customers simple and elegant ways to do the things they want to do. Facebook has hundreds of millions of customers. So, anyone that has an iPhone or iPad, we want them to have the best experience with Facebook on those platforms. So stay tuned. Next, when questioned about Siri, Cook reports that customers love the voice assistant feature on the iPhone 4S, and that its one of the most popular features on the device. He goes on to report that they have a lot more coming:But, there's more that it can do.

We have a lot of people working on this. You'll be really pleased with the things you'll see over the coming months.

The breadth that you're talking about - we've got some cool ideas about what Siri can do. We have a lot going on on this. Cook goes on to say that he thinks they'll be 'really happy' with where it's. At this year's All Things D conference, Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher asked Apple CEO Tim Cook about the Apple TV and the company's interest in making a full fledged television set.

Rumors of such a product have been persistent but with increasing frequency over the past few years. Cook reiterated the relatively small success of the current Apple TV set top box. He notes that the device has been selling at twice the rate of the previous year with 2.7 million units sold in the first 6 months of 2012. As he has in the past, Cook reports that there is incredibly high customer satisfaction with the current Apple TV set top box, and it's an area they have intense interest in:This is an area of intense interest for us. Many of us, the TV that we do watch, is almost exclusively on the Apple TV. That's what my TV watching is. All of my movies, everything is coming through Apple TV.So, the customer satisfaction with that product is incredible.

We're going to keep pulling this string and see where it takes us. Many people would say 'this is an area in their life that they aren't pleased with.' They might not be pleased with many things about it. The whole TV experience. It's an interesting area. We'll have to see what we do. Right now our contribution is Apple TV.A bit later in the interview, Mossberg comes out and asked Tim Cook directly 'Are you making a television', to which Cook replies that he's not going to answer that question.Cook does discuss their general approach to product design in response to Apple's possible contribution to the television market:W.

Image from AllThingsD Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher spent time interviewing Apple CEO Tim Cook tonight on a range of topics. The interview took place at the All Things D conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. We have a full transcript of the interview available. When asked about what Cook has changed at Apple, he discusses that he plans on doubling down on secrecy on products. We're going to double down on secrecy on products. I'm serious.Cook, however, does goes on to say that he is going to be the most transparent company on other topics such as social change and supplier responsibility.Apple's secrecy surrounding its product line is legendary. Apple cofounder Steve Jobs even identified secrecy as one of the specific tenets at Apple that has been responsible for its success. Apple's ability to keep products secret has been hampered in recent years by Apple's reliance on Foxconn and other 3rd party manufacturers.

Just earlier today, part leaks seem to have revealed the look of the next generation iPhone. There have been persistent rumors that Facebook may be trying to enter the mobile phone market with its own device. The NYTimes revives these rumors this weekend with a report claiming that Facebook is planning to release its own smartphone by next year. Amongst other talent, Facebook has already recruited a number of former Apple iPhone/iPad engineers for the project:The company has already hired more than half a dozen former Apple software and hardware engineers who worked on the iPhone, and one who worked on the iPad, the employees and those briefed on the plans said. This is reportedly the 3rd attempt by Facebook to build a smartphone. Previous plans had reportedly 'crumbled' after running into technical difficulties.

Facebook is now trying to recruit engineers with previous mobile phone experience to streamline the process. Facebook has a natural interest in selling smartphones. The company already has incredibly popular mobile apps for iOS and Android, but lacks much control on those platforms. “Mark is worried that if he doesn’t create a mobile phone in the near future that Facebook will simply become an app on other mobile platforms,” a Facebook employee said. Our sister site TouchArcade.com has launched an official iOS app this morning.TouchArcade is a site focused on game news and reviews for Apple's iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad platforms. The new iOS app features website content, easy game discovery, user forums, as well as app tracking abilities. Games can be added to your 'Watch List' so you can be notified of sales, official reviews, and updates.

Meanwhile, we have already started working with the same app developers (Flexibits) and designer (Bartelme) to begin work on an official MacRumors app. It's too early to predict a timeframe, but we hope to launch this year. The TouchArcade app is available now and is free to download. iTunes Link. Apple issued a software update for OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview 3 this evening. Apple released Developer Preview 3 to developers. The update brings the build number of Mountain Lion up to 12A193i (from 12A178q).

If you already have Mountain Lion Developer Preview 3 installed, choose Software Update from the Apple menu to download the update from the Mac App Store. Download Xcode 4.4 Developer Preview 4 from the Mac Dev Center to continue building apps for Mountain Lion Developer Preview 3 Update. One change noted by 9to5Mac is the addition of a 'Do Not Disturb' setting to Mountain Lion's Notifications Center:Besides the Notification Center, Mountain Lion also borrows a number of other features from iOS, such as Reminders, Messages, and Game Center.

Apple first previewed Mountain Lion back in February and promises deliver to customers in late summer. Apple met with video consultant and trainer Larry Jordan on the eve of the 2012 NAB show and shared some upcoming plans for Final Cut Pro X. The following features are expected in Final Cut Pro X in 2012:- Multichannel Audio Editing Tools- Dual Viewers- MXF Plug-in Support- RED camera supportJordan goes into some light details about some of the new features. FCP X will be able to read MXF files directly without the need to convert to QuickTime. The same can be said for RED camera support whose files will be able to be edited natively. Finally, Apple explains that Dual Viewers is analogous to Source and Record monitors and that they will try to do it better than has been implemented in the previously.

While those are the only features officially announced, Apple indicated that they wouldn't be the only new features coming this year. Jordan also asked for hints about upcoming hardware, but Apple didn't provide any information. The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) conference kicks off this week in Las Vegas.

Apple has not held a major presence at the show in recent years, but did use the venue last year to introduce Final Cut Pro X. Apple again appears to have a presence at the show and is at least meeting with some prominent figures. The NAB runs through April 19th. Apple has seeded OS X Lion 10.7.4 Build 11E46 to developers this evening.

The latest build reportedly has no known issues and focus issues include the App Store, Mail, QuickTime, Screen Sharing, and Time Machine. The first developer build of 10.7.4 was seeded in March. 10.7.4 may be soon due for release.Development on OS X Lion (10.7.x) is presumably winding down as Apple has already pre-announced the next version of OS X. OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) has seen two developer builds and will introduce a number of new iOS inspired features. 10.8 will become available sometime in the late. We typically avoid posting a story each time the Apple Store goes offline for updates. While the Apple online store famously goes offline to introduce new products, it also goes down for routine maintenance.Tonight's downtime is likely related to maintenance or other non-product tweaks, but notably the 'We'll be back soon' graphic that should be quite familiar to long time Apple followers has been changed. The original graphic (above) was on a sticky note and has been in place for many years.

Every time Apple's online store goes down, visitors would be greeted with this yellow sticky. Tonight, we see a new graphic overlaying a linen background that has been popularized in iOS.Apple has several product lines that are due for updates soon, including the Mac Pro and MacBook Pro. These overnight downtimes, however, are more typically related to routine maintenance rather than new products. The change in 'We'll be back' graphic may foreshadow other graphical tweaks to the online store.Update: The online store returned without any notable. Apple published a support document this evening regarding the Flashback malware that affects OS X computers. The malware is said to have infected over 600,000 Macs worldwide. While 3rd party tools have been developed to test for the infection, Apple reveals they are working on their own tool to detect and remove the software:Apple is developing software that will detect and remove the Flashback malware. In addition, Apple has been working with ISPs worldwide to disable the servers that send commands to the malware.
