Hello, I have the following: Only one Server ( MS Server 2008 R2) With active directory, dns, Dhcp installed roles When I am trying to put a laptop on that domain I get an error active directory domain controller could not be found. I also noticed that I am unable to connect to the Internet and when I ran ipconfig /all I see that it picked up a Dhcp ip from the server but the DNS is 127.0.0.1.

I am able to ping the DNS server (aka the domain controller) with its ip only but not the FQDN when I ran nslookup I get 127.0.0.1 server unknown. However on the DC I am able to get out to the Internet and run nslookup and it will show the DC/DNS server ip address. I have only one DC but this is a starting network that I am creating from scratch.note that when I manually add the dns server on the laptops nic. I am able to see the DNS server and Internet but I want the nic to obtain the dns server and ip address automatically. No i am not sure if DNS is working. On the laptop I can't join the domain because I get an error saying the ad domain controller could not be contacted.
