Dmm Player For R18 For Mac

Adults only I’ve recently become aware that a site called offers several GIGA videos for download. It appears the purchase includes both download and streaming options, so it may be worth checking out.

You can also watch trailers without having to create an account or login, as with the official GIGA site. Here’s a glimpse at a few of the videos available there, although there are many, many more at. Note: To watch downloaded content from R18, you will need to install R18’s “R Player,” a free video player. See more information about “R Player”.

@HM Yeah, I say that I may not buy any more of their videos now, but we’ll see I have over a hundred releases between Giga and ZEN, so I may just be lying to myself. My main concern is in paying a decent amount of cash for the releases and not having the files surely at hand to watch at will.

It’s similar to my thoughts on buying files attached an Amazon or Apple account What if this company goes under? Sure, it sounds absurd now, but you can not predict the future.

15 years ago or so, nobody thought Blockbuster would go out of business. @Django – Based on my experience buying and watching a video from R18 today, when you play your downloaded file, you’re required to authenticate it by entering the username and password you created when purchasing the movie.

After that, you can apparently watch that file without having to enter the info again, unless you switch devices. There’s a FAQ which can probably answer these questions better than I can. I understand your frustration (and Horse’s), and this has always been an issue with GIGA and ZEN. I, too, would greatly prefer just plain old non-DRM video files, but to me it’s worth the extra effort (for now, anyway) due to how much I love GIGA. Not everyone will agree, of course. @HM I take it that this means the downloads from R18 are also DRM encoded files, like Giga and ZEN? Giga and Zen have had warnings on their sites about them switching to their own player, which honestly may stop me from buying their videos.

I’m sure it does not bother their producers that I can no longer convert their videos into non-DRM files, but if their is no way for me to own a file with no strings attached, I have to refuse to give them my business. I understand that they wish for a lack of piracy but I am not nor do I plan on pirating the many films I’ve bought from them, so punishing the people who actually buy your videos just to perhaps stop piracy makes little sense to me. Sort of off-topic, but just a little bit of ventilation. @ Evangeline von Winter: speaking strictly for the GIGA site, where they explain this in greater detail, for films purchased from the GIGA site it needs to be the Real Player. From what I understand, and I am not an expert, it has to do with “rights management”. For the videos themselves you will need to enter an access code provided by them.

I feel this is an anti-piracy issue all in all. GIGA posted a while ago that they would allow downloads in different formats. Their streaming is now Mac friendly (provided you have Silverlight which you will also need for Amazon Prime). But this post of theirs has vanished. Speaking from a customer perspective, I find the anti-piracy arguement a valid one and at the same time a stupid one. I have seen stolen GIGA stuff across the net. So it does not help that much other than keeping a growing segment of users form their site.

Comixology insisted on DRM for the comics you purchuse from their site with the same arguement. Then Image Comics, the third largest publisher in this industry, started to offer their comics DRM-free on their own site with the simple request: please do not pirate our comics.

This is much nicer than assuming all your customers are in fact potential thieves, isn’t it? Comixology suddenly caved in and now offers certain content as downloadable back-ups. In the long-run GIGA will switch to offering Mac friendly versions of their movies or will fall be the wayside.

Again, my point is simply this: I use some of the most expensive equipment with the latest software. Why in the world should I – as a customer – have the need to download additional software in order to watch a peril movie or any other content?

The high-end wi/fi loadspeakers I am using right now are build to fit into Mac environment. Netflix works like that as well. Yes, I did download Silverlight (to give Amazon Prime a trial run), but in the end it was this simple fact why I am no longer with Prime and why I love Netflix even more.

This is what I call customer convenience. Not asking the customer to download a player from a company (MS) I will only support if I really have to because their software is not build for the devices I have chosen to use. I do however use addtional software that lets me convert any.wmv file into any Mac movie file I want i.e. I can convert any peril movie into a format that will play on my phone if I so choose.

Yet GIGA insists on the Real Player which does nothing. Oh, wait, I can stream (!) their movies now on my phone. Well, as long as they operate under the assumption that the truly must have this limitation (Real Player) because otherwise people will steal their movies i.e make copies and distribute them across the internet, i.e.

Dmm player for r18 for mac download

R18 Player

No faith into your customers, GIGA is not for me. Yes, I can download the freakin’ Real Player. But if GIGA wants my money, I really don’t see the point.

Either my money is good enough for them or it is not. Okay, I’ve looked around the site a little bit and have discovered that you’re actually supposed to download a video player called “R Player” to watch downloaded content. (I originally assumed that this meant “Real Player,” but apparently R Player is R18’s very own video player). I installed it, followed the directions, and played a downloaded video with no problems. Hopefully that will work as a solution for other Mac users as well. I’ve added a link with more information to the above post. More info is available.

@Evangeline – I’m afraid the program you mentioned seems not to play my purchased video. Maybe others will have better luck with it. @ HM: what a strange argument to have. As I have said in my post: when you check for the system requirements before you make the purchase, it does NOT say: please be aware that you can only play downloaded content with the Real Player. It will tell you afterwards in “fine print”. The Giga site itself is very clear on that “upfront”, they even go to great length in telling you, that they will not support the Real Player much longer i.e. They will switch to Silverlight for downloads (as the have with their streaming).

Again: had this site told me: heh, you will need to have the Real Player, I would have said thanks, but no. This is and was my point. And again: the purpose of my post was simply to let people know this i.e. If you are a Mac user, be aware of this little point. Again, I am not claiming that I got taken for a ride I can stream the movie I bought, yet I am very clear that I will not buy from them again, for two reasons: they did not point the Real Player issue out in their “system requirements” (it says.wmv but that is normally not an issue) and reason two: I do not support sites that are not Mac friendly 🙂. @ HM: thanks for pointing out this site. I gave them a try with one movie.

Here is the deal: it tells you that you can stream the movie you have purchased for an unlimited time and download it as well. However only once you have made your purchase they will tell you that you will still be needing the real player to view the download. So, it is still the old issue of Giga vs Mac.

So Mac users be warned if you really want to “own” a certain movie, this is not for you unless you have the real player (but why would you since there are programs available that let you either view or convert any.wmv to Mac friendly versions). But again: if you are a Mac user, the download will not work without the Real Player.

In all fairness, the streaming works (provided you have Silverlight installed), but it would have been nice had they pointed out the thing about the Real Player (the way it looks at the point of purchase it appears that this is not needed). Oh well, streaming is ok, but I will not bother to buy from them more than once. It is also interesting to note that a while ago Giga said they would bring Mac downloads to their regular site. But that announcement has vanished. So, apparently they did change their mind about this. Too bad that they are rather willing to lose money due to their fear of piracy (as if this would truly stop this) than to include an ever growing number of Mac users among their customers.
